A Great and Terrible Beauty

Gloomy skies,
Fresh, Piecing, Icy air,
The shadows of tortuous grimaces,
Born and taught subservience,
Not to subvert the present moment,
The truth distorted,
Feelings introverted, hidden, people unknown to the mask,
It's grave and adverse,
That elation, gone in the blink of an eye,
Through an endless void of dreams,
The Garden of Eden,
A garden that can contort with the very thoughts of mind,
A human desire, temptation,
A provocative rush of assimilation,
The tranquil prose in the caressing breeze,
An Eden where all would perversely beg to stay,
But is this truly a blissful Eden?
When faced with truth that demoralizes their bliss,
Retorts and lies spread burdening the heart,
Lost, Confusion,
Tranquility lost,
Here is Eden,
Here is bliss,
Here is Hell,
This is, the alpha and the omega,
The gateway to eternity,
What starts, must end,
It is the inevitable,
Thus the great and terrible beauty,
Of it all.
